Re: am I over training?

No other way to tell you, but you are just getting older. Talked with Bas after my last injury a couple months ago and he said 'We take alot longer to warm-up and heal.' Listen to your body, if it feels like it needs rest, then rest by going lighter for a day or two. Still train just dont do it with...

Re: how to groin block in bas rutten system

Our kick defense is to send our front leg up at about a 45 degree angle closing the open area off. Raising it up and then clearing takes to long. but defending at an angle allows you to redirect and to cover any area in the "A" frame. Against punches if the are straight punches then just a...

Re: MMA or Krav maga

If it is a Krav Maga Worlwide location, you will get the same stance and some similar striking as the Bas Rutten System. Bas changed some things for that organization of Krav Maga. If you are looking at purely self defense and to get in shape, then get started in Krav Maga. You will get a good found...

Re: Fist Fighting

We try and fire back at the same time as the initial attack with straight punches. So if you throw a left straight, I redirect and counter with a left straight. To be honest, i prefer doing Bas loading defense now more than Krav inside defense. But in the moment, just react. if you can load, great i...

Re: Fist Fighting

I dont like the Keysi system either. Everyone does this crap against someone with no knife and thinks it will defend against everything. Train against a knife and tell me what defense you will use. It should be the same for a fist. In both Krav Maga and Bas Rutten Systems, we cover and defend both a...

Re: Hardy Will Beat St Pierre-- Mir Beats Carwin

Ha Ha, I guess I did just bash Bas!! with that said Bas will tell you the first thing he learned was escapes and reversals and then submissions. I agree that everyone is looking for tricks rather than building the basics. The basics are what make champions they just do it better than anyone else. Lo...

Re: competing

Bas will not compete again. He would love too and I agree injured he beats most these guys.

His knees are far to gone and his family enjoys him not fighting, so it will not happen again.

Re: Hardy Will Beat St Pierre-- Mir Beats Carwin

Great fights last night. KW, we are all wrong every once in awhile. GSP needs to get hungry again and quit fighting to keep the belt and fight like wants to win it. Glad Hardy lost, but to eventually win, he needs to work on getting up from the ground not submissions. I dont understand why strikers ...

Re: Fist Fighting

For MMA all three work and have been used effectively, out on the street I only like the Parrying from that list, but prefer KM and even more Bas' defenses , which are very similar to most parrying type systems. If somone has a knife or improvised weapon you dont want to try and duck and diffently d...

Re: axe kicks

Not used much because people dont know how to do them correctly and if you dont set them up correctly you can be in trouble. The other thing, is it generally is not a knock out type kick. Can you knock someone out with it? YES, but its generally seen as a lower percentage type stike in comparision t...
